This is how my leadership journey began…
I am excited, honored, and nervous about taking on this endeavor of writing about leadership. Specifically a concept I am calling the Golden Rule of Leadership. Leadership can be defined in hundreds of thousands of ways. You can ask one hundred people how they define leadership and you would get one hundred different definitions. The Golden Rule of Leadership is another addition to the pantheon of leadership theories, styles, definitions, etc.
I have been interested in leadership since I went to basic training at Ft. Sill, OK in 1996. I have had the honor of serving in the United States Army for approximately 6 years where I served in many leadership roles. Including time as a convoy commander, squad leader, and assistant platoon sergeant in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. I have served in a variety of leadership positions in local, state, and federal government agencies. I hold a doctorate in public policy and administration. My dissertation examined relationships between supervisors and subordinates in state government agencies.
